Introducing Deep Shade Coffee. At 9% ABV, it is the most ambitious beer we have ever created. And the one that sets up everything that comes next.
Our approach is simple: keep pushing the Pinter to do more. Sometimes that means a new style, sometimes it means inventing the tools to unlock it. Deep Shade Coffee is the first beer to use our new dual pouch method, and while the 9 percent ABV will get attention, the real story is what this technique opens up for every beer that follows.
Meet Deep Shade: A Bold Imperial Coffee Stout
Jet-black with a velvety tan head, bursting with notes of espresso, dark chocolate and molasses. Smooth and full-bodied, balancing intense coffee and cocoa notes with caramelised sugar and roasted malt, finishing with a lingering warmth and silky roasted depth. It is full-bodied, smooth, and thick in a way you have not yet experienced with your Pinter beer.
Unlocking Possibilities with a New Brewing Approach
Deep Shade is the first beer developed with our new dual pouch method, using two ingredient pouches and two yeast packets to fundamentally rework how a beer develops inside the Pinter.
That second pouch is not a gimmick. It changes the ratio of malt to water. It changes how flavour compounds unfold. It changes mouthfeel in a way you will notice immediately.
More depth. More aroma. More body. And with it, the ability to go bigger, in ABV, in richness, in character, without compromising the clean, fresh finish you are accustomed to with Pinter. This is a long-time customer request delivered with a bang, and one that opened the door to styles we have wanted to make for years.
What Early Trialists Had To Say
“There is a complexity of taste, malty, caramel, sweetness and some bitterness to follow.”
“Smooth and rich with a hint of [molasses].”
“Great beer. It is perfect.”
A Turning Point For Pinter Brewing
Deep Shade is not just our darkest beer ever. It is the project we have been obsessed with all year because it marks a real shift: a new tier of possibilities inside the Pinter.
Higher-ABV beers like this were once out of reach. Beers with this level of body and texture, the thick, silky kind you would expect from your favourite craft stout, took coaxing, iteration, and a whole new technique to get right.
Now it is real. It is here. And it is only the beginning.
Why It Matters
If you brew Deep Shade, you are not just trying a new style. You are seeing where the Pinter platform goes next. Bigger beers. Bolder beers. Styles with layered malt profiles, richer mouthfeel. This launch is a proof point and a promise.
